American Anthropological Association

This organization is the main professional society of physical and cultural anthropologists. The site has documents related to the scientific exploration of "race," including some of the official statements and resolutions of the Association indicating their position as anthropologists on the historic and contemporary scientific "findings" of race studies.

Center for the Study of White American Culture

This is a multiracial organization that critically examines whiteness and white American culture. It promotes cultural exploration and self-discovery among white Americans, and encourages dialogue among all racial/cultural groups. The site also has papers presented at the annual National Conference on Whiteness, from 1996-1998, and links to related sites.

Challenging White Supremacy Workshop

CWS workshops help train anti-racist organizers and activists. Believing that racism and white supremacy are barriers to the formation of multi-racial grassroots movements, the leaders of the workshops seek to promote advocacy for social justice by assisting community leaders to organize anti-racism activity more effectively. Their website has many resources and links.

Human Genome Project

The Human Genome Project has been controversial, but it deserves to be examined in relation to the issues of racism. There are links on this page that will take the reader to articles and discussions of the ethical, legal and social implications, as well as other issues related to the project.

 Japanese American Citizens League

The purpose of this organization is to promote and preserve the civil rights of Japanese Americans. There are pages with news and issues related to the Japanese American community, and links to other Japanese American sites. Most of this site is organizational information of the League.

Leadership Conference on Civil Rights

The Leadership Conference on Civil Rights is the largest coalition of organizations dedicated to the protection of civil rights in the U.S. This site has an extensive collection of news items and documents on a broad range of civil rights matters, including information on education and hate crimes.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People

The NAACP is the oldest civil rights organization in the United States. This site contains news and program information. There is are several pages on the site with extensive links to the sites of other civil rights organizations.

National Association for Multicultural Education and Social Justice

NAME is an umbrella organization made up of educators at all levels who work toward the development and implementation of models of multicultural education. This site has limited links and resources, but for persons interested in what's going on in multicultural education, this organization would be a good place to start.

 National Congress of American Indians

The congress is the largest tribal government organization in the U.S., consisting of over two hundred and fifty tribal governments.  The purpose of the congress is to advocate and interpret American Indian affairs before the federal government and the public. This site has an extensive collection of policy and issue documents.

National Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Organizations

This site is part of the White House Initiative on Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. It consists of many links to the web sites of a variety of Asian American and Pacific Islander Organizations that promote civil rights and the full participation for Asian-Pacific-Americans..

National Council of La Raza

NCLR is the largest national Hispanic organization dedicated to the eradication of poverty and discrimination for Hispanic Americans. Their web site contains many resources including papers on policy issues and community programs.

National Urban League

The National Urban League was founded in 1910, and is considered one of the most significant organizations dedicated to the achievement of social justice, equality and civil rights. The League is active across the country in activities of advocacy, program service and support and education. There is considerable material available from their web site, including the annual publication of their State of Black America Report.

Organization of Chinese Americans

This organization began in 1973 as a non-partisan group advocating for the rights of Chinese American and Asian American citizens and permanent residents. The group promotes the participation of Chinese Americans in all areas of public life. The site contains information on media, resources and programs beneficial to cross-cultural activities.

Race Traitor - New Abolitionist Society

The New Abolitionist Society is a loose organization of persons who are committed to engaging in a critique of whiteness, and the journal Race Traitor is their principle publication. This site contains electronic issues of the journal and other media (including some .pdf documents).

Rainbow/PUSH Coalition

Founded by the Reverend Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., this organization is a merger of Operation PUSH (1971) and the National Rainbow Coalition (1985). The coalition is involved in many areas of advocacy for social change and includes persons and community groups engaged in strategic initiatives for social, racial and economic justice across various ethnic, religious and political backgrounds. The site includes electronic documents, audio clips of speeches, live radio broadcasts, and links to many other sites.

UNESCO (UN Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization)

The UNESCO site contains information about the history and activities of this UN organization. Anyone interested in education, culture, the natural and social sciences should browse this site for its full-text documents. The site has a full range of resources for use in a variety of settings.

 U.S. Commission on Civil Rights

The commissions was first established by the Civil Rights Act of 1957, and in 1983, a revised commission was established by the Civil Rights Act of 1983. This is the principle governmental agency charged with overseeing compliance with civil rights law and investigating discrimination complaints, so its site is full of information regarding the law, its implementation and enforcement.

 Workplace Diversity Network

Though more limited, this site does have information about conferences, interactive communications and a newsletter. The network and its site is a joint project of Cornell University and The National Conference for Community and Justice.
