Newspapers The links below will take you to the homepage of these newspapers. The value of having a link page to several newspapers is that when a major event occurs or a vital newsworthy topic is identified, it is possible to examine how different newspapers treat it. In addition, there is some value in noting whether a particular newspaper even publishes an article or op-ed piece on an issue. Other Sites There are several web sites that can be regarded as virtual full-service Internet communities (VFIC) designed for the needs and interests of a variety of people groups. A VFIC site will have news, entertainment, discussion forums, opinion columns, politic commentary, lifestyle and health, travel, money, e-commerce, career management, food, events calendar, chat, and features that are age-, gender- and location-specific. For Asian Americans, there is AsianAvenue and aOnline/Click2Asia. Both of these sites require a membership for full access, but the membership is free. In addition, there is Asian Week, an online version of the weekly news magazine of the same title. It is published in the San Francisco Bay area and addresses the Asian American communities in general, and the Asian Pacific American communities in particular. For African Americans, there is Black Entertainment Television (BET), Black Voices (with free membership) and The Black World Today. For Hispanic Americans, there is HispanicVista, HispanoMundo and IMDiversity.Com - Hispanic American Village. For a site dedicated to news reports, users should browse Latino News Network. For Native Americans, there is NativeWeb and The Navajo Times. The magazine Native Americas has an online version with news and analysis. Two other web sites that contain news accounts and information on racism and race-related matters are Documents in the News, a project of the University of Michigan library. This is a collection of news articles organized by subject. The other site is MSNBC News: Race in America, a collection of news regarding current events in the area of race relations and issues in the U.S. |
